Description
This is an opportunity to join an experienced team of Data Scientists working alongside experts in insurance underwriting, pricing, claims, and IT.
One of the world's top 20 general insurance and reinsurance companies, with operations in all the key insurance markets has expressed an interest to hire a Data Scientist.
The Data Science team utilises machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to help select and price risk, detect fraudulent claims, identify target opportunities, develop new products, and make operational processes more efficient.
What you’ll do
• Work in close partnership with the Underwriting and Pricing teams to add value to the business using Data Science techniques and modern technologies.
• Implementation of Data Science workflows: Discovery/problem definition, Data Acquisition and Processing, Model Build and Tuning, Performance Validation, Results Communication. •Development of high-quality, compliant Data Science solutions and services.
• Develop strong relationships with various teams in order to understand business needs.
• Collaborate and learn from the wider team through code review.
• Collaborate with the IT Applications Engineering team to ensure that models/services are deployable and maintainable in production.
• Develop and maintain strong technical Data Science skills, learn from the team, and share knowledge and expertise within the team.
Who You Are
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) subject, or equivalent expertise.
• Strong skills in Python Programming, and utilisation of the “Scientific programming stack”.
• Demonstratable knowledge, ability, and experience of implementing data science/machine learning workflows.
• An understanding of good data visualisation principles.
• Knowledge of SQL, R, Python
• Proactive in identifying, dealing with problems, and actioning opportunities.
• Ability to present and convey intuition behind complex subjects to non-expert audiences.
• Business and financial acumen - curiosity to learn and keep up with market trends and innovations.
• A desire to learn more about Cloud based Data Science technologies and deployment and develop skills around processing and use of Big Data
